Howard Highlights

Employment

The Howard School welcomes applications throughout the year from individuals interested in working in a collaborative, innovative environment, where excellence and diversity are highly valued. Opportunities for professional and career development are outstanding at The Howard School.

Lead teachers (including arts and physical education) should bring a strong background in teaching using an integrated curriculum and personalized instruction. Candidates should be particularly interested in working in a highly collaborative environment. Preference is given to those with three to five years of experience and an advanced degree in education or a related field, as well as to those with expertise in particular disciplines. Most lead teachers are certified by the state of Georgia in their primary field of teaching responsibility.

Support teachers work in the classrooms with lead teachers, expanding opportunities for more individualized instruction and collaborative teaching. Support teachers are required to have a bachelor’s degree and experience in working with children in a learning environment.

Speech-Language Pathologists must be licensed by the state of Georgia and certified by ASHA. Occasionally, consideration is given to individuals completing their CFY. We give priority to those who have a strong background in understanding language development and its relevance to the individual’s ability to communicate and learn effectively.

Literacy and math specialists work with small groups and individuals, ages seven through High School. A full range of knowledge in literacy, including writing and written composition, is required. Preference is given to those with a background in mathematics as well.
